Common Reasons for Rejection

What Needs Another Look?

Campaigns can be rejected for a variety of reasons. Here are some of the most common issues we see.

Real rejection for Sole Proprietor EIN criteria and incorrect registration

Mismatched Details

Your business details do not match carrier records, including legal name, EIN or website information.

Real campaign rejection for an unverifiable website

Website Issues

Your website is missing a privacy policy or terms, or the website is not working.

Real campaign rejection for opt in information

Unclear Opt In

The campaign does not clearly show how customers give permission to receive messages.

Weak sample message compared with a strong compliant sample

Weak Samples

The sample messages do not match the selected use case or miss the required disclosures.

Rejection Codes

A2P Rejection Codes and the Exact Fix

An A2P 10DLC campaign rejection always comes with a reason, and on Twilio it comes with a numbered code. The code names the field the reviewer could not verify, so the fix is to correct that field and resubmit, not to rewrite the whole campaign from scratch.

CodeWhat the reviewer foundWhat to changeResubmit?
30886The campaign description does not show who is sending, to whom, and why.Name your registered business, the recipients and the reason for the messages. Match the use case and samples.Yes. Edit the campaign and resubmit.
30893Sample messages do not match the selected use case.Give at least two realistic samples, put templated fields in [brackets], and include your business name and opt-out wording in at least one.Yes.
30892A sample uses a public link shortener or an unsecured link.Use your own domain or a branded short domain. Every link must be HTTPS and publicly reachable.Yes, once the links are fixed.
30909The message flow does not show how people agree to receive texts.Describe every opt-in path end to end: brand name, purpose, frequency, message and data rates, STOP and HELP. Give the form URL; checkboxes must start unchecked.Yes, and it keeps the same campaign.
30932The privacy policy suggests mobile opt-in data may be shared.State that mobile opt-in data and consent are never shared or sold to third parties for marketing. Keep the policy public and linked in the message flow.Fix first. Twilio’s page does not state eligibility, so confirm with your provider.
30880A generic manual-vetting rejection with no specific reason.Look for a more specific code on the same campaign and fix that first.Through your provider’s support team.

Two codes people often confuse with campaign rejections belong to toll-free numbers instead: 30527 (business registration number) and 30032 (number not verified). Toll-free numbers go through a separate verification, not The Campaign Registry, so see toll-free verification for those. Missing STOP and HELP replies have their own page: errors 30887 and 30890.

Resubmitting

How Do You Resubmit Without Paying Twice?

To resubmit a rejected A2P campaign, fix every reason on the rejection and then resubmit the same campaign instead of deleting it. According to Twilio’s guidance, resubmitting keeps the existing campaign and avoids a second vetting fee, while deleting and recreating it charges the vetting fee again.

  1. List every code on the campaign. A campaign can fail for several reasons at once, and a generic code such as 30880 often sits next to a specific one.
  2. Fix the specific reasons first. Work through the description, the sample messages, the message flow, the privacy policy and the website, using the table above.
  3. Re-check the brand details. The legal name must match IRS records exactly (the EIN letter, CP-575 or 147C), with the matching EIN and a working website on your own domain. Our A2P 10DLC checklist covers every field.
  4. Resubmit the same campaign. Create a new campaign only if the use case you picked was wrong or the problem sits with the brand rather than the campaign.
  5. Developers on Twilio, note the API catch. Twilio says updating a campaign through the API needs Private Beta access. Without it, the API route means deleting and recreating the campaign, which charges a new vetting fee.

For wording that reviewers accept, see our guides to campaign descriptions and sample messages and SMS opt-in language.

Timing

How Long Does a Resubmitted Campaign Take?

A resubmitted A2P campaign goes back into carrier review, so plan for days rather than hours. Twilio notes that a new review can take up to several weeks, and no provider can move a campaign up the carriers’ queue.

  • Brand checks are usually the fast part. Providers report anything from the same day to about a week, mostly depending on whether the legal name and EIN match official records.
  • Campaign vetting commonly takes a few business days. Twilio’s own quickstart plans for about four days for a first approval.
  • Resubmissions re-enter the review queue, and Twilio warns the new review can take up to several weeks.
  • What actually saves time is fixing every reason in one pass. Each extra round trip restarts the clock.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, for most rejection reasons. Correct every field named in the rejection, then resubmit the same campaign for review. Twilio marks description, sample message and message flow rejections as eligible for resubmission. Some providers treat high-risk rejections as final, and those go through the provider’s support team instead.

Not if you resubmit the existing campaign. According to Twilio, resubmitting keeps the campaign and avoids a second vetting fee. Deleting the campaign and creating a new one charges the vetting fee again, so recreate only when the use case was wrong or the brand itself is the problem.

Error 30880 is a generic rejection: the campaign failed manual vetting without a specific, actionable reason. Twilio advises checking the campaign for additional, more specific rejection codes and fixing those first. If none appear, your provider’s support team can say what was flagged and whether an appeal makes sense.

Brand approval only confirms that your business is real and matches its records. The campaign is reviewed separately, against its description, sample messages, opt-in flow, privacy policy and website. An approved brand with a vague description or a missing opt-in path can still have its campaign rejected.

No. Toll-free numbers go through their own verification, which does not involve The Campaign Registry. Codes such as 30527 for the business registration number and 30032 for an unverified number belong to toll-free verification, and they are fixed in the toll-free verification request, not in a 10DLC campaign.

No. Carriers make the final decision, so nobody can honestly guarantee approval. What a service can promise is the work. Every A2P Ready verification includes fixing the campaign and resubmitting it until it is approved, at no extra charge beyond the flat fee. Registration and carrier fees are billed separately by your SMS provider.
