What Brand Registration Checks

A brand is the business that sends the texts, registered with its legal name, tax ID, address and website. Every campaign hangs off a brand. Brands usually fail because the legal name, EIN or address does not match IRS records, or because a DBA went in as the legal name. Copy the name from your IRS letter.

The business that sends the texts, registered with its legal name, tax ID, address and website. Every campaign is attached to a brand.

Usually because the legal name, EIN or address does not exactly match IRS records, or a DBA was entered as the legal name.

On your IRS EIN confirmation letter, such as the CP 575 or a 147C letter. Enter it exactly as printed.

A brand cannot be edited while a campaign is attached to it, which is why checking details before submitting matters.

Definition

What Is 10DLC Brand Registration?

10DLC brand registration is the first step of A2P 10DLC. Your SMS provider registers your business identity with The Campaign Registry (TCR), which verifies it against official records. The brand holds your legal name, EIN, address, website and contact details. Campaigns are then registered under the brand, so a clean brand is the foundation for everything after it.

You register the brand through a campaign service provider such as Twilio or HighLevel’s LC Phone, not directly with TCR. Each provider shows the same core fields in its own forms.

Step by Step

How Do You Register a 10DLC Brand?

To register a 10DLC brand, choose the brand type and enter the legal name and EIN exactly as on your IRS letter. Add the business address, website and an authorized contact with a business email, then submit and wait for verification. Standard brands also go through secondary vetting, which produces the trust score that sets your volume.

  1. Pick the brand type: sole proprietor, low-volume standard or standard. See sole proprietor vs standard brand.
  2. Enter the legal name exactly as on the IRS CP 575 or 147C letter, including every line above the address.
  3. Enter the EIN for that same entity.
  4. Add the address as registered, and a live website on your own domain.
  5. Add an authorized contact with an email on the business domain.
  6. Submit and check the status; see A2P registration statuses.
Costs and Score

What Does Brand Registration Cost, and What Is the Trust Score?

On Twilio, brand registration costs $4.50 one time for sole proprietor and low-volume standard brands, and $46 for standard brands, which adds $41.50 secondary vetting. The vetting produces a trust score that sets daily volume; as reported by providers, scores from 75 to 100 get the highest T-Mobile daily cap. Other providers bundle these fees differently.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Businesses register through a campaign service provider such as Twilio or HighLevel’s LC Phone, which submits the brand to The Campaign Registry for you. You fill in the brand details in the provider’s own forms.

Brand checks are usually the faster part of registration. The time depends mostly on whether the legal name and EIN match official records. A newly issued EIN can take about two weeks to verify.

It is the score a standard brand receives from secondary vetting. Carriers use it to set daily sending volume, with higher scores getting higher caps. Sole proprietor and low-volume standard brands do not go through secondary vetting.

An email on your business’s own domain. Personal or public email domains are rejected with codes 30971 and 30881, because reviewers need to connect the contact to the business.
