A2P Brand Rejected? Identity Fixes
A2P brand rejected? The legal name, EIN or business type did not match official records. Here is what reviewers compare and the fix.
Why Brand Details Fail
Reviewers compare your legal business name, tax ID, address and business type with official records such as your IRS EIN record. The most common mistake is a trading or DBA name where the exact legal name belongs. On toll-free requests, codes 30527, 30488 and 30474 cover the same kind of identity problem.
What is compared?
Your legal business name, tax ID, address and business type are compared with official records such as your IRS EIN record.
What is the most common mistake?
Entering a trading or DBA name where the exact legal name is required, or a legal name that does not exactly match the IRS letter.
Which toll free errors relate to identity?
Business registration number missing or invalid (30527), legal or DBA name mismatch (30488), and listing a software provider instead of the end business (30474).
My EIN is new. What now?
A newly issued EIN can take up to about two weeks to pass IRS matching, so waiting before resubmitting can help.
Why Do A2P Brands Get Rejected?
Reviewers reject an A2P brand, or leave it unverified, when the business details you submitted do not match official records. The legal name and EIN must match the IRS letter exactly, and the business type must be right. The contact details must belong to the business and an authorized person. Most brand failures are a single small mismatch.
The most common mismatch is the legal name. Enter it exactly as it appears on the IRS CP 575 or 147C letter, not as written on a W-2, W-9, website or bank account. If the name runs over several lines on the letter, include every line above the address.
Which Codes Point to a Brand Identity Problem?
Brand identity problems now come with specific codes. Twilio’s error reference has codes for a tax ID that does not match IRS records and for details nobody could verify. Another covers a sole proprietor brand that uses an LLC or Inc name. The table below also adds the toll-free registration-number rejection, error 30527.
| Code | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| 30795 | Tax ID data mismatch with IRS records. | Copy name and EIN from the IRS letter. |
| 30799 | Reviewers could not verify the registration details. | Check each field against official records. |
| 30915 | A sole proprietor registration uses an LLC or Inc name. | Register the company as a standard brand, or use the individual’s details for a true sole proprietor. |
| 30918 | The DBA does not match. | Use the legal name as primary and the trade name only in the DBA field. |
| 30898 | Several brands use the same EIN. | Keep one brand per business unless there is a valid reason, and consolidate campaigns. |
| 30971 / 30881 | The brand used a personal or public email domain. | Use an email on the business’s own domain. |
| 30972 | The contact is not an authorized representative. | List an owner, officer or employee authorized to register. |
| 30527 | Toll-free: business registration number missing or invalid. | Correct the EIN, authority and legal name. |
How Do You Fix a Brand Identity Rejection?
To fix a brand identity rejection, pull your IRS EIN letter and copy the legal name and EIN character for character. Confirm the business type and address, and use a business-domain email and an authorized contact. Then correct and resubmit the brand. A newly issued EIN can need about two weeks before it verifies.
- Get the IRS letter (CP 575, or a 147C if the original is lost).
- Copy the legal name exactly, including punctuation and suffixes such as LLC or Inc.
- Check the business type: sole proprietor only for a true unincorporated individual; see sole proprietor vs standard brand.
- Use business contact details on your own domain.
- Resubmit and watch the status; see A2P registration statuses.
Our EIN verification check helps compare details before you submit. The full field list is in 10DLC brand registration.
Match Your Official Records
Every brand field must match your official records exactly. Use the legal name as printed on your EIN letter and the nine-digit EIN for the same entity. Enter the address from your business records and pick the correct entity type. Small differences in punctuation or suffixes are enough to fail the match.
Legal Name
Exactly as on your EIN letter.
EIN
Nine digits for the same entity.
Address
Same as your business records.
Business Type
The correct entity type.
We Correct and Resubmit
We compare your brand details with your IRS letter and business records, field by field. We correct the legal name, EIN, address and entity type wherever they differ, then resubmit the brand. Frequently Asked Questions
Which document should my legal name match?
The IRS EIN letter, the CP 575, or the 147C verification letter if the original is lost. Do not use the name from a W-2, W-9, website or bank account, because small differences cause the match to fail.
Can an LLC register as a sole proprietor?
No. Sole proprietor registration is for unincorporated individuals. Twilio’s code 30915 covers a sole proprietor brand using an LLC or Inc name. An LLC should register as a standard or low-volume standard brand instead.
Why was my brand rejected for my email address?
Codes 30971 and 30881 cover personal or public email domains. Use an address on your business’s own domain so reviewers can connect the contact to the business.
Can I register several brands with the same EIN?
Code 30898 is returned when one EIN appears on several brands without a clear reason. Most businesses need one brand with campaigns under it, not a brand per campaign.
