Twilio Error 30034

Twilio Error 30034: Unregistered 10DLC Number

Twilio blocks texts to US numbers sent from a 10 digit number that is not linked to an approved A2P 10DLC campaign. Here is why it happens and how to fix it.

What It Means

Why Error 30034 Appears

The message was sent from a US 10 digit number that is not registered to an approved A2P 10DLC campaign, so Twilio blocked it.

Brand or campaign registration is not finished, the number is not in the sender pool of the Messaging Service linked to the approved campaign, or more than one number is used on a Sole Proprietor campaign, which only covers one.

Finish brand and campaign registration, then add the number to the Messaging Service attached to the approved campaign.

Until approval you can use a verified toll free number, a short code or a verification service instead of the unregistered 10 digit number.

Root Causes

What Causes Error 30034?

Error 30034 means Twilio blocked a text to a US number because the +1 10DLC number that sent it is not linked to an approved A2P 10DLC campaign. Registration is unfinished, or the number was never attached to the campaign. The message is not delivered and has to be sent again after the fix.

Twilio’s error reference lists four causes. Check them in this order, because the first two cover most cases.

CauseHow to checkFix
Brand or campaign not approved yetOpen your A2P registration status. Anything other than an approved brand plus an approved campaign means the number is still unregistered.Finish the brand and campaign registration, or fix the rejection that stopped it.
Number not linked to the approved campaignLook at the Sender Pool of the Messaging Service tied to the campaign. The sending number must be in it.Add the number to that Messaging Service, then resend.
Extra numbers on a Sole Proprietor campaignCount the 10DLC numbers on the campaign. A Sole Proprietor campaign registers only one.Keep one number on the campaign. Send from that number only, or move to a standard brand.
Number shows as unregisteredCheck the number’s own registration status, not just the campaign’s.Re-link the number to the Messaging Service and campaign so it picks up the approved registration.

Since February 1, 2025, Twilio blocks all US-bound traffic from unregistered 10DLC numbers, so 30034 is no longer a warning you can ignore. Our A2P 10DLC guide explains what registration covers.

Step by Step

How Do You Fix Error 30034?

To fix error 30034, confirm that both the brand and the campaign are approved, make sure the sending number sits in the Messaging Service attached to that campaign, and then resend the message. Most cases clear as soon as the number is linked. If registration is still pending, the only fix is to finish it.

  1. Check the registration status first. Brand approved, campaign approved and number registered are three separate checks. Our guide to A2P registration statuses explains what each one means.
  2. Fix any rejection before anything else. If the campaign was rejected, the number stays unregistered until it is approved. See how to fix a rejected campaign.
  3. Link the number. Add the sending number to the Sender Pool of the Messaging Service that belongs to the approved campaign. A number in a different Messaging Service still counts as unregistered.
  4. Remove extra numbers from a Sole Proprietor campaign. Only one 10DLC number can be registered there. If you need more numbers, a standard brand is the right registration.
  5. Resend and watch the logs. Blocked messages are not queued for later, so send again and confirm the new attempts show as delivered.

Can You Send Texts Before A2P Approval?

Not from an unregistered 10DLC number. While A2P 10DLC registration is pending, Twilio’s documentation points to sender types outside the 10DLC system: a toll-free number, a short code, or Twilio Verify for one-time passcodes. Each has its own rules, so none of them is a free shortcut.

  • Toll-free numbers need their own toll-free verification. Unverified toll-free traffic is blocked too, which shows up as error 30032. See toll-free verification.
  • Short codes suit high volume but take longer to provision and cost more.
  • Verification codes only can go through a dedicated verification service instead of a marketing number.

For most small businesses the fastest route is simply to finish 10DLC registration. Our A2P 10DLC timeline shows what each review stage involves.

Compare Codes

Error 30034 vs 30007 vs 30032

These three codes all mean a text did not arrive, but each has a different cause and fix. 30034 is about registration, 30032 is about toll-free verification, and 30007 is about the message content or sending pattern being filtered.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Usually because the sending number is not in the Messaging Service attached to the approved campaign, or because a Sole Proprietor campaign has more than one number on it. Approval covers the campaign, but each number still has to be linked to it before its texts count as registered.

No. A message blocked with 30034 is not held and retried once registration finishes. Fix the registration or the number link first, then send the message again and check that the new attempt shows as delivered.

No. Twilio registers only one 10DLC number on a Sole Proprietor campaign, and any extra numbers stay unregistered and return error 30034. A business that needs several numbers should register as a standard brand instead.

Error 30034 is about messages sent to US numbers from a +1 10DLC number without an approved A2P campaign. It is the US registration rule, so check the destination country’s own rules for texts to recipients outside the US.

It avoids 10DLC registration, but toll-free numbers have their own verification process, and unverified toll-free traffic is blocked with error 30032. Switching makes sense only if a toll-free number suits your use case, not just to dodge registration.
